Grade Level: Primary 6
Topic: Volleyball
Duration: 1 hour
**Objective:**
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
1. Understand the basic rules and objectives of volleyball.

- Show pictures or diagrams of a volleyball court and explain the different positions and zones.
- Explain the basic rules and objectives of the game (i.e., two teams, the net, scoring points by grounding the ball on the opponent's court).
2. **Activity 1: Demonstrate Basic Skills (15 minutes)**
- Demonstrate how to serve a volleyball. Emphasize different types of serves (underhand vs. overhand).
- Demonstrate passing (bumping) and explain the importance of correct hand positioning.

- Allow students to practice each skill briefly in pairs.
3. **Activity 2: Skill Practice Rotation (20 minutes)**
- Divide the students into four groups and set up stations for each skill: serving, passing, setting, and spiking.
- Each group spends 5 minutes at each station practicing the specific skill, then rotates to the next station.
- Provide feedback and encouragement as students perform each skill.
4. **Activity 3: Modified Game (10 minutes)**
- Set up a mini-volleyball game using a smaller court if space is limited.
- Divide the students into two teams.
- Play a short game, focusing on using the skills they've practiced and promoting fair play and teamwork.
- Encourage students to communicate and work together.
5. **Cool Down and Reflection (5 minutes)**
- Have students perform a few stretching exercises to cool down.
- Gather the students and ask them what they enjoyed most about the lesson and what they found challenging.
- Discuss the importance of teamwork and physical activity for overall health.
**Assessment:**
- Observe students' ability to perform and demonstrate basic volleyball skills during practice and the modified game.
- Assess students' understanding of the rules and objectives of volleyball through questioning and discussion.
- Evaluate students' ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
**Homework/Follow-up Activity:**
- Ask students to watch a short video of a professional volleyball match online and write down three things they noticed about how the players communicate and work together.
- Encourage students to practice the skills they learned at home or during recess with friends or family.
**Conclusion:**
- Reinforce the key points covered in the lesson.
- Encourage students to ask questions if they have any.
- Remind students about the health benefits of engaging in sports and staying active.
